TRIPLE GLAZING CHOOSING THE RIGHT WINDOW STYLE AND SPECIFICATION
Triple glazing has been around for many years throughout Europe, but is still a relatively new concept in the UK. With global changes in weather conditions, it could be a consideration in keeping your home snug in the colder months.
One of the issues with triple glazing, is that the additional pane of glass has increased the overall weight of the glass unit. Therefore, ensure that the style you choose has been specially designed to take this extra weight, to alleviate ongoing service issues.
This is one of key reasons why Hybrid Window Systems chose the renowned Kommerling 76 tilt & turn style, which can accommodate weights up to 150kg.
2 . THERMAL PERFORMANCE
The addition of an additional pane of glass and cavity, will give a better performance than a standard double glazed unit. This performance is referred to as the ‘u’ value, and the lower the figure, the better the performance.
There are two ways in which windows and doors are measured and reported. The overall glass in a product usually gives the best thermal transmittance, so the ‘centre pane’ u value is often quoted. As window styles vary considerably with transoms, mullions and opening sizes, the other way of calculating is by the ‘overall product u value’.
It is therefore critical, when comparing product attributes/suppliers, that the same ‘u’ value is used in comparison differences.
HWS windows are manufactured using a triple seal system for better wind and weather performance.
One of the benefits of tilt & turn windows is the varied types of ventilation options. The tilt function gives top ventilation, allowing 2-way air exchange. The turn function gives greater air flow, giving the user better control over their environment
4. EASY CLEAN
With the window in the turn position, the whole of the outside area of the glass can quickly, easily and safely be cleaned from the inside of the room. This is a particular advantage in upper floor situations. No Ladders necessary!
As with most styles, you have a wide choice of colour, glazing, handles, etc. The aluminium outer face can be provided with contrasting sash and frame colours giving an almost limitless choice. Dual colour options are also available.
6. HIDDEN GEARING
We use the Siegenia gearing systems which are completely concealed when the window is in the closed position. All you see from the inside is the operating handle
7. LARGER WINDOW SIZES
Do you enjoy a great view, which you don’t want obstructed with structural elements. Overall sizes of up to 1650mm wide x 3000mm tall can be designed as single openings.
All Hybrid Window Systems products are internally glazed, making glass replacement easy from the interior of the property, along with greater peace of mind with locking points around the perimeter of the opening sash.
